Escape to Paradise: Zeavola Resort, Your Ko Phi Phi Dream Awaits
Zeavola Resort: My Chaotic, Paradise-Seeking, Ko Phi Phi Diary – The Good, The Bad, & The Beach Bum Stuff
Okay, buckle up, because I'm not going to sugarcoat this. I just got back from Zeavola Resort in Ko Phi Phi, and my brain's still crammed with sand, sunshine, and the lingering scent of frangipani. "Escape to Paradise: Zeavola Resort, Your Ko Phi Phi Dream Awaits," they said. Well, let's break it down, because dreams, as we all know, can be beautifully messy.
First Impression: The Wow Factor (and a bit of a wobble)
Landing in Ko Phi Phi is… intense. It's a beautiful chaos of longtails, tourists, and salt spray. Getting to Zeavola? Smooth. They've got a speedboat transfer from Phuket (yes, airport transfer is a beautiful thing!), and the journey itself is stunning. The resort is nestled on Laem Tong Beach, a pristine stretch of sand. Breath taken. The first moments…Wow. I was immediately swept away by the 'Robinson Crusoe meets luxury' vibe. Rustic bungalows, thatched roofs, and a genuine feeling of sanctuary. The front desk [24-hour] was efficient, even though I was practically vibrating with excitement. They also had a concierge ready to help me with pretty much everything.
Accessibility & The Little Crumbs of Comfort:
Now, full disclosure: I'm not in a wheelchair, but I did notice the resort tries. There are facilities for disabled guests, and ramps in some areas. But navigating the sandy paths might be a challenge for some. Worth checking specifics with the resort if you're concerned. They also had an elevator, which is handy. My opinion, is that the resort may not be 100% suitable for people in wheelchairs. Being able to use the wi-fi for special events while there, I was able to share pictures of my beautiful stay, and this was fantastic.
The Bungalow Breakdown – My Little Paradise, with a Few Quirks
My bungalow? Divine. We are talking Air conditioning, Blackout curtains (a godsend!), a massive extra-long bed, and a private bathroom with an outdoor shower – yes, please! The bathrobes and slippers were a nice touch and the room was also filled with the smell of jasmine. Honestly, I could have lived in that room, which was not the case, but I really liked it. The complimentary tea went down a treat too. Oh, and the in-room safe box - essential to make sure all valuables were stored securely. Pro tip: Ask for a bungalow closer to the beach. The walk is lovely, but if you're lazy like me, proximity is key!
Now, the "quirks." My first morning, the coffee maker gave out. No big deal, housekeeping fixed it. The second day, I accidentally locked myself out on the balcony, but this was my own mistake. The daily housekeeping was impeccable, and the room was always squeaky clean. My phone was also charged in the socket near the bed. All of this was part of the charm. Small imperfections, easily forgiven in the face of… well, paradise.
Food, Glorious Food (and the Occasional Belly Ache)
Okay, food. This is where things got REALLY interesting. Let's start with the good: The Asian breakfast was amazing. Fresh fruit, dim sum, and a seriously good omelet station. They also had the western breakfast if you need some bacon.
Their main restaurant, Tacada, serves both Asian cuisine in restaurant and international cuisine in restaurant, and the seafood? Chef's kiss! I had the grilled snapper one night, and I think I legitimately moaned. They have a poolside bar, and the coffee shop was a lifesaver in the afternoon. Also, all types of desserts in restaurant.
They had a vegetarian restaurant, which was great for a break from the meat.
Now for the less idyllic stuff. My rumbling stomach. I may have gotten a tiny bit overzealous with the street food on the way to the resort, so on Day 3, I opted for room service [24-hour]! I also used the breakfast in room. The alternative meal arrangement that allowed me to eat vegetarian food was fantastic.
The bottle of water, and complimentary tea were brilliant. Tip: The anti-viral cleaning products and staff trained in safety protocol certainly helped me get away from feeling really sick!
Things To Do (Because Lounging on the Beach Gets Old… Eventually)
Okay, "get old" is probably the wrong phrase. Lounging on the beach is the primary activity, and it's glorious. But Zeavola offers so much more. The swimming pool is stunning, with a pool with view. I spent hours there, and it's seriously Instagrammable.
They have a fitness center, but I'm pretty sure I spent more time at the bar! I did manage to get a massage at the spa, and oh. My. Goodness. The body scrub and body wrap options also sounded delightful. The whole spa area is serene and beautiful. The sauna, the steamroom, everything. I also spent a lot of time at the poolside bar, happy hour, was the best time of the day.
Also, the daily disinfection in common areas reassured me that I was safe, especially considering it was the middle of the pandemic.
Cleanliness, Safety, & The Pandemic Reality
This is where Zeavola really shines. They clearly take cleanliness and safety seriously. There were hand sanitizers everywhere. Staff trained in safety protocol, which really put me at ease. The rooms sanitized between stays, and they offer a room sanitization opt-out. They even had sanitized kitchen and tableware items. It was reassuring, and I never felt worried.
Internet & Technology – Staying Connected (or Disconnecting… Your Choice)
The free Wi-Fi in all rooms! was a major win, although the signal could be a little patchy sometimes. They also had Internet access and Internet access – LAN in the rooms. They also had Wi-Fi in public areas, which was convenient.
The "Getting Around" Stuff
The car park [free of charge] was convenient. The airport transfer from Phuket was flawless.
Services & Conveniences – Small Touches, Big Impact
The daily housekeeping was great. Luggage storage was handy. There was a concierge for everything.
For The Kids (and the Big Kids Too)
I didn't travel with kids, but they seemed well catered for. Family/child friendly is definitely a thing here, and they had a babysitting service.
The Verdict: Would I Go Back?
Absolutely. Zeavola isn't flawless, but its imperfections are part of its charm. It's a place where you can truly disconnect, relax, and recharge. The staff are genuinely friendly and helpful. The beauty is undeniable. It's a Ko Phi Phi dream, with a little bit of grit and reality thrown in for good measure.
My Quirky Observations & Emotional Reactions:
- I cried when I left. Seriously. I miss the frangipani scent.
- Bring mosquito repellent. Seriously.
- The sunsets are next-level gorgeous.
- Order the Pad Thai. You won't regret it.
- Be prepared to do absolutely nothing, and embrace it.
- Oh, and the front desk [24-hour]… so helpful!

Indore's WOW: Luxury Redefined at Crest - IHCL SeleQtions
Okay, buckle up, buttercups, because this ain't your grandma's travel itinerary. We're going to Zeavola Resort, Koh Phi Phi, Thailand, and it's gonna be a glorious, sun-drenched, slightly-chaotic adventure. Prepare for more "Oh my gods!" than "On schedule."
Zeavola: My Escape to Paradise (and Potential Disaster)
Day 1: Arrival & Immediate Regret (Just Kidding, Mostly)
- Morning (7:00 AM, Bangkok): Ugh. Airports. The bane of my existence. Woke up in a puddle of my own drool (apparently, I snore even before the jet lag kicks in!). Ate a questionable airplane croissant that tasted suspiciously of sadness. But hey, we’re going to Thailand! That feeling, that giddy flutter of "I'm finally doing this!" is worth all the TSA pat-downs and delayed flights.
- Afternoon (1:00 PM, Krabi Airport): Landed in Krabi! Humidity hit me like a wet, warm hug. Okay, bring on the heat, I can handle it! Shuttle to the pier – beautiful scenery already. Islands popping out of the water, emerald green, felt like an actual movie. The driver, bless him, spoke about two words of English, but with a smile that could melt glaciers.
- Afternoon (3:00 PM, Ferry to Phi Phi): Ferry ride! Or as I like to call it, the "seasick-inducing love boat." The waves were surprisingly rambunctious, and I swear I saw a few people’s faces the color of pea soup. Thank goodness for anti-nausea meds – though I may have taken a few too many. Felt a bit floaty, like I was wearing a cloud as a hat.
- Afternoon (4:30 PM, Zeavola Resort - Arrival!): HOLY. MOLY. Zeavola. Okay, now I understand the hype. The beach is ridiculously pristine. The staff greets you with iced towels and fruity drinks. My bungalow is straight out of a magazine spread – think weathered wood, crisp white linens, a private plunge pool beckoning me. Suddenly, all the airport woes, the ferry nausea, the impending sunburn – poof – gone. Replaced by pure, unadulterated bliss.
- Evening (7:00 PM, Sunset Cocktails at the Beach Bar): I swear I saw a dolphin frolicking in the sunset. Maybe it was the cocktails, but don't ruin this for me! The bar itself is a haven of mismatched chairs, and friendly people, perfect for chatting some random people and sharing travel stories. Ordered a Mai Tai, which I promptly spilled on my brand new white linen pants (told you, disaster). Luckily, I had brought a backup.
- Evening (8:30 PM, Dinner at Zeavola's Restaurant): Ate the best Pad Thai of my life. Seriously. Tender noodles, perfectly balanced tamarind sauce, and enough chili to make my nose run (a good thing!). Attempted to order dessert but got completely bamboozled by the waitstaff who took me for a round of drinks for the whole table, oh well, the cocktails were indeed great.
Day 2: Snorkelling, Sunburns, and Seeking Peace (and More Drinks)
- Morning (7:00 AM, Waking Up): The sun is insane! Woke up way earlier than intended, thank you, jet lag. The birds were noisy, which was lovely, just not at that hour. Drank some water and went for a morning walk.
- Morning (9:00 AM, Snorkelling Trip - May Be the Best Thing Ever!): This is where things get… transcendental. The boat trip was already great, with the sun kissing my skin and the smells of the marine. I saw the sea of all sorts of colors. Swimming in the crystal-clear water, surrounded by vibrant coral reefs, was absolutely breathtaking. Schools of fish shimmered like living jewels. I did see a turtle, felt like watching a living documentary. Actually felt something I had never experienced before, calm. I may or may not have spent three hours straight in the water, ignoring all warnings about sun exposure. Mistake. A big mistake.
- Afternoon (12:00 PM, Lunch & Sunburn SOS): Lunch was a delicious green curry, but I was already starting to feel the burn. Oops. Found my favorite spot, a place to relax at the beach, and got a sunbath. Slathered myself in aloe vera, which felt like a warm, gooey hug.
- Afternoon (2:00 PM, After All That, Nap Time): Slept on my balcony, listening to the waves. Woke up feeling refreshed… and even more sunburnt.
- Evening (6:00 PM, Sunset Hike - Getting Lost): Decided to do a sunset hike. Got lost. Miserably lost. Walked in circles, sweating buckets, swatting mosquitoes. Finally found my way back to the resort, covered in bites and thoroughly humbled.
- Evening (7:30 PM, Dinner & Coconut Therapy): Despite the sunburn and the mosquito bites, tonight's dinner was divine - grilled seafood, fresh mango, and more cocktails. The bartender had become friend enough to share the secret ingredient: love.
- Evening (9:00 PM, Massage): Got a Thai massage. It was heaven. Honestly, they pummelled me until all my stress and sunburned fury melted away.
Day 3: Bamboo, Beaches, And the Reality of Leaving
- Morning (7:00 AM, Breakfast Ritual): Breakfast at the resort is a dream. Amazing fresh fruit, amazing pancakes, and amazing coffee.
- Morning (9:00 AM, Bamboo Island Adventure - That's What We're Talking About!!): Booked a longtail boat to explore Bamboo Island. This is a must-do. The sand is like powdery sugar, the water is unbelievably clear. I snorkelled for hours, and it was glorious! I saw tons of new fish, coral, and maybe even a baby shark (don't freak out). The kind of place where you just want to close your eyes and absorb the beauty.
- Afternoon (1:00 PM, Picnic Lunch and Relaxation): Had a picnic lunch on the beach, perfect moment of peace.
- Afternoon (3:00 PM, Phi Phi Don Exploration - Tourist Traps and Hidden Gems): Took a longtail boat to Phi Phi Don, the main island. Yes, it's crowded and touristy, but worth seeing for the views. Got some souvenirs, tried some street food (delicious but spicy!).
- Evening (6:00 PM, Sunset Watching - Final Sunset!): Went back to Zeavola and find a spot to enjoy the sunset with some cocktails. Watched the sun fade, and felt a wave of sadness wash over me.
- Evening (8:00 PM, Farewell Dinner): Had a farewell dinner at a restaurant I still don't remember. Ordered all my favorites, and tried to memorize every flavor.
- Evening (9:30 PM, Packing and Prep for Departure): Packed my bag, fighting back tears. This place is magical.
Day 4: Farewell, Zeavola! (And a Promise to Return)
- Morning (7:00 AM, Early Departure): Wake up and have one last look at that idyllic view from the balcony.
- Morning (8:00 AM, Breakfast, the Last One…): One last breakfast, trying to savour every bite.
- Morning (9:30 AM, Ferry to Krabi): Goodbye, Zeavola.
- Afternoon (12:00 PM, To Airport): Bye-bye, Thailand!
- Afternoon (2:00 PM, Back to Home): Welcome back to reality.
Notes & Ramblings:
- Sunscreen is your friend. Seriously. Slather it on. Then slather it on again.
- Embrace the chaos. Things will go sideways. Flights will be delayed (probably), you will get lost, and you will eat something that makes you question your life choices. Roll with it. Laugh it off. That's the adventure.
- Talk to people. The locals are friendly and welcoming. They can tell you about hidden gems, delicious food, and all the things that make a place special.
- Seriously, go to Bamboo Island. Just do it. Thank me later.
- I'm already planning my return. This place stole a piece of my heart.
Zeavola, you magnificent, sun-drenched beauty. Until next time. This was awesome.
Cape Town Family Apartment: Your Dream Vacation Awaits!
Zeavola Resort: Your Ko Phi Phi Dream...ish
The Vibe: Pure, Unadulterated Island Time...Eventually.
So, what's the *actual* vibe at Zeavola? Is it all just…perfect?
Okay, let's get this straight: "perfect" is a lie the travel gods whisper to sell you overpriced cocktails. Zeavola *tries* for perfect, and bless their hearts, they get pretty damn close. Think barefoot luxury, a healthy dose of "island time" (read: things happen when they happen, and sometimes, they don't), and a lot of sand. Like, *a lot* of sand. You'll be brushing it off your stuff for weeks. It's serene, it's beautiful, but it's not going to magically make all your problems disappear. I mean, I showed up stressed to the max but, the first thing I did was trip over a rogue coconut husk (hey, it happens!). But then I just started laughing. And that's when the real relaxing started.
What's the *biggest* thing that sets Zeavola apart from all the other resorts that claim to be "eco-friendly"?
Honestly? They seem to actually *care*. I felt a little cynical going in, you know? Every resort nowadays boasts about sustainability. Then I saw the staff literally *collecting* plastic on the beach. Not just the visible stuff, but the tiny granules that escape the tide. And the efforts in saving the coral reefs... it's not just lip service. They *do* the work. That said, there was one time when I saw a bunch of plastic bottles floating in the ocean just outside the beach, that kinda ruined the moment. Like *seriously* bummed me out. But hey, nobody's perfect, right?
The Beach Bling: Sand, Sun, and… Sand?
The beach – is it as dreamy as the photos suggest? Because, let’s be real, photos lie.
Okay, the beach IS stunning. The water is that unreal turquoise you only see in brochures. But here's the honest truth: the sand is…fine. Like, baby powder fine. Which is great for walking barefoot. Except. It gets *EVERYWHERE*. I mean, everywhere. You'll be finding it in your suitcase months later. My biggest regret? Not investing in a proper beach bag that could actually *contain* the sand. Also, watch out for the sun. I, a seasoned traveler, got *burnt* to a crisp. (Blame the cocktails, I say!)
Any beach specific tips?
Bring reef-safe sunscreen. Seriously, *please*. The coral will thank you. Also, invest in a good beach umbrella. The sun is relentless. Bring a small beach towel and a large foldable beach bag. And don't be a hero with the snorkeling. The currents can be surprisingly strong, so heed the advice of the staff. And most importantly, get up at or before 06:30 AM and make a B-line to catch the sunrise while it is quiet. It is 100000% worth it.
The Bungalows: Rustic Charm or… Something Else?
Are the bungalows actually nice? They look a bit "rustic" online…
"Rustic" is code for "charming, but not exactly the Ritz." They're gorgeous! Crafted from natural materials, spacious, and private. The outdoor showers are a game-changer. But, and this is a big but... Bugs. Yes, you will encounter bugs. Especially if you are like me and like eating fruit in your room. I learned that the hard way. One night, I swear, a giant beetle tried to make its home in my suitcase. Just embrace it, it's part of the experience. Oh, and the air conditioning worked a bit too hard sometimes in my bungalow. Some mornings I woke up feeling a bit ill, but it was still better than no air.
Anything to know before booking a specific bungalow type?
I'd go for one closer to the beach, if you can. The walk is lovely, but trust me, after a day of swimming and sunbathing, the closer you are to that cold beer, the better. Also, ask about the view! Some bungalows have better ocean views than others. And take some time picking the right one, it is an investment, and can easily make or break your trip!
Food, Glorious Food (and Maybe a Bit of Disappointment?)
The food – is it as good as the pictures make it look? Because, again, food pictures are notoriously deceptive…
Okay, the food *is* pretty darn good. Fresh seafood, amazing Thai curries, and tropical fruit that will make your tastebuds sing. Breakfast is a standout, a buffet of sunshine and deliciousness. However, I got a little bored after a week. There's only so much Pad Thai a person can eat. Also, the prices ARE, for a place like Thailand, a bit inflated. But hey, you're paying for the location, and that view!
Any restaurant or dining recomendations?
Do NOT miss the restaurant at the end of the beach for sunset drinks. It's pure magic. For a more local experience, venture out (carefully) to the village - the food there is much cheaper, but the restaurant offered at Zeavola give you the *experience*. And don't shy away from trying all the fruit. Seriously, try everything. Even the durian, if you dare (I didn't... the smell...).
Activities: Beyond the Beach (If You Can Pull Yourself Away)
What is there *to do* besides lounging and pretending to be a mermaid?
Snorkeling and diving are obvious. The water is crystal clear and teeming with life. I tried the scuba diving, and it's absolutely mind-blowing. I saw a sea turtle, got a little bit scared by a shark (turns out it was harmless), and felt like I was swimming in a giant aquarium. But if you're like me, and mostly just enjoy the sun, there's plenty of options for that. (I could have spent the whole trip laying around on the beach).
